A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Kirkcaldy father-of-two Darren Adie.

Mr Adie, 42, was found collapsed on Tweed Avenue in the town on Saturday, May 28.

He died in hospital later that night, prompting a major police investigation.

Gordon Coventry, 51, made a brief appearance on petition at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Friday charged with Mr Adie's murder.

He made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination.

Coventry was remanded in custody and he is next due to appear at court on Friday, July 1.

His court appearance came just days after Mr Adie's parents made an emotional appeal for information.
