A pedestrian has died after being struck by a Ford Transit van in Fife.

The 74-year-old was hit on the B9157 Invertiel Road, on the outskirts of Kirkcaldy, at 12.30am on Tuesday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene after the collision with the white van, which was travelling eastwards.

A local diversion remains in place via Jawbanes Road.

Inspector Brenda Sinclair, of Fife's Road Policing Unit, said: "Our condolences are with the family of the man who sadly died.

"I would appeal to anyone who was travelling on the B9157 around midnight or late last night who might have seen a man wearing dark clothing walking on that route, or who may have seen a white Ford Transit van travelling towards Kirkcaldy, to get in touch.

"Road closures are still in place while enquiries are conducted at the scene, and I want to thank the public for their patience at this time."
