The Scotsman Hotel in Edinburgh has gone into liquidation.

It comes after a petition was presented earlier this year to wind up the business, on the city's North Bridge.

Liquidators French Duncan say the five-star hotel will continue trading in the hopes of finding a buyer in the near future.

The firm's head of business recovery and insolvency Eileen Blackburn said: "The Scotsman Hotel is continuing to trade and there are no plans for that to stop.

"French Duncan are working with the hotel's senior management team to ensure that trading continues and to find a long term sustainable solution."

Management said jobs were secure and the hotel was looking forward to the upcoming festival season.
