A slip road off the M8 will close overnight as part of a £100,000 maintenance project.

The essential works will be carried out on the eastbound M8 near Baird Road at Ratho on the western outskirts of Edinburgh between 8pm on Tuesday and 6am on Wednesday.

The eastbound M8 junction 2 slip road will be completely closed during this time

Traffic will be diverted at the Junction 2 eastbound off slip towards the A8 at Newbridge and will then travel to the A720 Hermiston Gait roundabout to rejoin the M8 eastbound.

Traffic Scotland said the work, with a value of £100,000, will benefit around 33,000 vehicles that use the motorway every day.

It is hoped the project will improve greater journey time reliability, continued safety and comfort.

This work has been planned in consultation with Police Scotland, local bus operators and Edinburgh, Falkirk and Stirling Councils.
