Police in Fife have teamed up with Interpol and the Garda to track down a Fife shooting suspect believed to be in Ireland.

A major investigation was launched after a firearm was discharged at a house on Craigfoot Walk in Kirkcaldy on Thursday, May 19.

No one was injured in the incident but the shots damaged the property and a parked car.

At the time, police stressed the incident was "not random".

Officers said on Monday that the man responsible for the shooting is a 27-year-old who is in Ireland.

Officers are liaising with Interpol, the Garda police and the Crown Office to trace and arrest him.

Detective inspector Colin Robson said: "Thankfully no one was injured as a result of this incident but I recognise the impact that this had on the local community and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their understanding and co-operation during the course of the investigation, which has now resulted in a male being reported to the procurator fiscal.

"We are now in the process of progressing the matter alongside various partner agencies.

"Police Scotland treats all reports of firearms offences with the utmost seriousness and whenever crimes of this nature occur, we will conduct a thorough investigation to bring those responsible to justice."
