A young mother and her partner have been named as the victims of a fatal three-vehicle crash on the outskirts of Edinburgh.

Jenna Tindall, 29, and Marc Edwards from Dundee died at the scene of the collision on the A68 near Pathhead, Midlothian, in the early hours of Friday.

Jenna's six-year-old daughter was pulled from the wreckage by a family friend.

They had been travelling in a red Vauxhall Corsa which was involved in a crash with a silver Skoda and a silver Mercedes van near the Millerhill roundabout on the approach road to the Edinburgh city bypass.

Another man was left in a serious condition following the smash at around 3.15am on Friday.

The road was closed for several hours while roads investigators carried out inquiries.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them on 101.
