A 34-year-old man has been charged over a serious assault in a Fife town.

It comes after another 34-year-old man was attacked in Dunfermline at 3.30am on July 3.

The victim suffered a head injury on St Margaret Street, near Dunfermline Library. He was treated at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.

On Wednesday, police in Fife said a man had been arrested and charged over the attack.

Detective sergeant Kieran Marsh said: "Following out earlier appeal for information, with assistance of members of the public, we have traced a man in connection with this incident and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

"I would like to thank the local community for their help during this inquiry."
