Officers investigating a racially-aggravated incident on an Edinburgh tram have issued pictures of a man they wish to speak to.

A member of the public was subjected to "disgusting" abuse on board the tram at Murrayfield on Wednesday, February 24 at around 5pm.

Police have now issued pictures of a man they say will be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as between 18 and 25 years old with a large build and short hair that was shaved at the sides.

He was wearing a light-coloured jacket and black headphones around his neck.

PC David Hughes said: "We will not and do not tolerate anyone involved in such unacceptable behaviour.

"This level of unprovoked abuse is quite frankly disgusting.

"We have carried out a number of lines of inquiry in an effort to trace the person responsible.

"I would urge anyone who recognises this man, or who may have any other information, to contact police immediately on 101 or alternatively the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 should you wish to remain anonymous."
