A boat used by the Sea Cadets to train budding sailors has been stolen from its base.

The rigid inflatable boat was taken from the unit in Dunbar, East Lothian.

Police Scotland said the thieves targeted the facility on North Road at some point between 9.30pm last Tuesday and Thursday.

The boat, which is fitted with an outboard motor, was stolen on a trailer it was held on.

Inspector Alan Hogarth said: "The Sea Cadets do a tremendous amount of good work for the local community and I can assure them that we will do all we can to recover their property and arrest those responsible.

"The thief or thieves have managed to steal this boat, which is worth a four-figure sum of money, as it sat on a trailer.

"I would urge anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour including the presence of unknown vehicles in the area to come forward immediately."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101.
