A teenage boy has been charged over online abuse sent to the family of missing Fife man Allan Bryant.

Mr Bryant's family have complained about a series of abusive messages which were sent to them via social media about their missing son.

The 23-year-old was last seen leaving the Styx club on Caskieberran Road, Glenrothes, on November 3.

His family have long believed he has been murdered but he has never been found.

Police confirmed on Tuesday that a 15-year-old had been charged under the Communications Act.

He was detained after a warrant was executed in Glasgow on Tuesday morning.

The boy has been reported to the Children's Reporter.
