A man suffered serious facial injuries after an attack in an Edinburgh pub.

The 43-year-old was punched in Murrayfield Sports Bar on Westfield Road on Sunday at around 5pm.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

The attacker was described as white, 6ft, with a muscular build and in his 30s.

He had blonde or ginger hair which was shaved at the sides, tattoos on both arms and was wearing a yellow t-shirt and jeans.

Detective Sergeant Robbie Wallace said: "We're still working to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident, and would urge anyone who witnessed this to get in touch.

"Likewise, if anyone recognises the description of the suspect I'd ask them to contact either us or Crimestoppers immediately."
