A man was left injured after two masked robbers broke into his house and stole cash.

The men forced their way into the home on West Pilton Place, Edinburgh, in the early hours of Monday.

The 57-year-old resident suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.

The first suspect is described as white, 6ft, with a heavy build and in his 30s.

He was wearing a black hooded top, a black scarf or face covering, blue jeans and black trainers.

The second suspect is white, 5ft 6in, with a medium build and in his 20s.

He was wearing a royal blue hooded top, and a black scarf over his face.

They were last seen heading in the direction of Crewe Road Gardens.

Detective constable Kevin Walls, of Corstorphine CID, said: "I want to reassure the community that we're currently treating this as an isolated incident, but that there will be an increase in patrols in the area over the coming days."
