A woman was left distressed after being followed and sexually harassed while walking to get a bus in Edinburgh.

The 19-year-old was walking towards a bus stop on Crewe Road South between 5.30am and 6am on Friday when she was approached by a man.

He made "inappropriate" comments towards her and followed her.

The woman raised the alarm with another man, who waited with her until she safely boarded her bus.

The suspect is described as white, around 25 and about 5ft 7ins. He had an average build, clean-shaven build and was wearing a grey hooded top.

Detective constable Nicole Napier said: "This incident left the woman feeling very distressed and we are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry to trace the man responsible.

"As part of this investigation we would also like to trace the man who waited with the victim at the bus stop, as he may have useful information.

"We would ask him to contact police immediately."
