A fire which broke out at a derelict former pub in Edinburgh sent a column of black smoke over the city.

The blaze broke out on Newhaven Road shortly before 4pm on Monday, with firefighters called out to tackle the flames.

Pictures on social media showed black smoke rising over the street and flames engulfing the building, the site of the former Bonnington Bridge bar.
