Speakers will blare out loud noises and eggs will be removed from nests if a new crackdown to rid Fife of seagulls is approved.

A pilot scheme will be rolled out in Kirkcaldy and, if successful, could be extended to other towns in the region.

Councillors Tom Adams and Peter George are behind the project, which they hope to launch in February.

Mr Adams told STV News: "More complaints have been coming in recently. We have been looking at other regions where they have had schemes in place to reduce the number of gulls.

"[A similar scheme in] Dumfries and Galloway seems to have been a big success. They have seen a big reduction."
