Two people have died after a motorbike and sidecar collided with a BMW car.

A 64-year-old motorcyclist was travelling on a Triumph Bonneville while his female passenger, 59, was in the sidecar.

The pair died at the scene of the crash on the A6094, around half a mile south from Rosewell, on Thursday night.

The 26-year-old driver of the BMW 116 car was treated at the scene following the collision at around 10.40pm.

Inspector Richard Latto from the road policing unit said: "This collision sadly resulted in the death of two people and we are eager to gather as much information as possible.

"Anyone who was on the A6094 on Thursday night and saw either of the two vehicles involved is asked to contact us immediately.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101."
