A second man has been arrested following an alleged shooting in Edinburgh last week.

The 25-year-old was held in connection with the incident around 11pm in Cables Wynd, Leith on August 26 and will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.

Keith Smith, 30, appeared in court on Thursday charged with attempted murder, along with firearms and assault charges.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

A police spokesperson said: "Police Scotland can confirm that a second man, aged 25, has been arrested following the discharge of a firearm in Leith.

"The incident occurred at around 11pm in Cables Wynd on Friday, August 26.

The firearm has since been recovered and a 30-year-old has also been arrested and charged.

"He appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday, September 1."
