Two men charged with attempted murder at Edinburgh newsagent

Two men have been charged with the attempted murder of an Edinburgh shopkeeper.
Tahir Ahmed, 53, required hospital treatment for serious head injuries after the incident at his shop A & A Stores, on the corner of South Trinity Road and Cargill Terrace, on August 12.
The two men are alleged to have confronted him and demanded money before attacking him with a weapon.
At the High Court in Edinburgh on Wednesday, David Allan, 49, and Liam McMeechan, 22, were both charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery and assault to severe injury.
McMeechan also faces a charge of police assault.
Both men made no plea or declaration and were remanded in custody.
They are due back in court later this week.
