A man suffered serious injuries after two teenagers attacked him with a weapon.

The 19-year-old needed hospital treatment after the assault on Leven Walk, Livingston, at around 6.15pm on Thursday.

Police said the incident was unprovoked and urged anyone with information to come forward.

The first suspect is described as being around 5ft 2in tall with black hair.

He was wearing a light blue jacket and denim jeans.

The second suspect is around 5ft 7in tall with brown hair and was wearing a dark blue jacket and denim jeans.

Both boys are believed to be in their mid teens.

Detective Sergeant David McMillan said: "This was a violent, unprovoked attack that left a young man needing hospital treatment.

"I'm particularly keen to trace any witnesses who saw the incident or the suspects in the area around the time of the assault.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
