Leonardo DiCaprio has arrived at a social enterprise restaurant in Edinburgh on his first visit to Scotland.

The Oscar winner is at Home restaurant in the west end of the city to meet staff and have lunch before making a keynote speech at the Scottish Business Awards later on Thursday evening.

He arrived just before midday and briefly stopped to sign autographs for fans outside, some of whom had been waiting since 5am for the chance to meet the actor.

DiCaprio is meeting Elise Lovell who won a competition to have lunch with the star.

Home, part of the Social Bite chain, helps the homeless community by allowing customers to pay for food and drinks for the vulnerable.

It also helps people get off the streets through training and workplace opportunities - one in four of the restaurant's employees were formerly homeless.

The Hollywood star's visit was arranged by Social Bite co-founder Josh Littlejohn and Scottish Business Awards chairman Sir Tom Hunter.

Sir Tom said: "Leonardo is not only a famous actor, he is a pioneering environmentalist and committed philanthropist whose charitable work is making a global impact.

"To have him address our nation's premier businesses and entrepreneurs is incredibly exciting."

DiCaprio is following in the footsteps of George Clooney, who made a similar trip to the sandwich shop last year.

The actor won his first Oscar earlier this year for survival epic The Revenant.
