A CCTV image has been released of a man police want to speak to about a racist incident at a supermarket in East Lothian.

It is understood a worker at Lidl in Musselburgh refused to sell alcohol to a customer who he thought was under influence.

The man then racially abused the staff member, started shouting offensive comments towards him and threatened him at around 8.20pm on Saturday, April 30.

Other customers stepped in and escorted him from the store.

The man is described as white, 35 to 45, approximately 5ft 10in and spoke with a local accent.

He was wearing a blue Adidas jumper, dark jeans and was carrying a black rucksack at the time.

Anyone who recognises this man should contact constable Kris MacLeod or constable Murray Legge from Musselburgh Police Station on 101.

People can alternatively call Crime stoppers on 0800 555 111 anonymously.
