A horse rider was thrown to the ground after a cyclist threw a bike and brick at him.

The victim had been riding his horse on Ladybrae in Gorebridge, Midlothian, on Tuesday afternoon when the man approached him.

The attacker, who was accompanied by a "poodle-like dog", threw a black and white bicycle at him, causing him to fall from his horse.

He then threw a brick at him before fleeing the scene.

The incident took place at around 3.15pm on Tuesday, around 200 yards from the junction between Ladybrae and Barleyknowe Road.

Police described the suspect as a white man in his 50s who was wearing a yellow high-visibility cycling jacket, black lycra bottoms and a white cycling helmet.

Anyone witnessed the incident is asked to contact sergeant Michele Lindsay on 101 at Penicuik Police Station.
