A man and a woman have been arrested after police recovered around £350,000 worth of drugs during raids in West Lothian.

A 32-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were charged after officers found cocaine, heroin and amphetamines at two properties.

On Monday, police carried out searches at addresses in Townhead Gardens, Whitburn, and Polbeth Road in Polbeth, leading to the discovery of large quantities of drugs.

The man and woman are expected to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Detective inspector Paul Batten from the proactive unit said: "This is a huge quantity of extremely harmful substances that has been seized before it could be distributed within the West Lothian communities.

"We are committed to tackling organised crime in all its forms, including drugs offences, and will always act on information from the public to identify those involved.

"The public continue to make it clear to us that they will not tolerate drug crime in their communities and on occasions such as this, provide vital information that assists with our efforts to bring offenders to justice.
