Commuters faced train disruption due to a signalling problem at an Edinburgh railway station on Wednesday morning.

The issue at Haymarket had a knock-on effect for travellers throughout rush hour.

Network Rail said services could be amended, cancelled or delayed by up to 50 minutes.

ScotRail said the signalling fault had been resolved at around 7.15am but disruption continued until around 9am.

The firm said services were returning to normal by 10am.

It added to traffic disruption caused by high winds across Scotland.
