Three Rangers fans were held by police in Germany over claims they acted inappropriately towards cabin crew on an easyJet flight.

Around 8000 fans travelled from Scotland to Berlin at the weekend to watch the Ibrox side's friendly match against RB Leipzig.

Police met the three supporters after the flight from Edinburgh landed at Berlin-Schonefeld after cabin crew called them in because they were "behaving in a disruptive manner".

Locals reports claimed the police quizzed the men over "insult and coercion on a sexual basis".

It is understood they have now been released from custody.

A spokeswoman for the airline said: "EasyJet can confirm that three passengers, who were behaving in a disruptive manner during flight EZY6977 from Edinburgh to Berlin on January 14, were met by police on arrival in Berlin.

"The return sectors of the passengers have been cancelled as a result of their behaviour. Whilst they are rare, easyJet takes all incidents of disruptive behaviour seriously.

"EasyJet's crew are trained to assess and evaluate all incidents and act appropriately and we will not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour. The safety of its passengers and crew is the airline's highest priority."
