Man 'attempted to abduct two children near play park'
The alleged incident happened near a primary school, where a man was detained.
A man has been detained by police over an alleged attempted abduction of two children near a play park in Falkirk.
The children were playing at a park in Hallglen when a man on a bike reportedly asked for help looking for his jacket in nearby woods on Friday evening.
STV understands a neighbour said they saw the children start to leave with the man and intervened.
Police were called and a 50-year-old man was detained near the scene.
Inspector Jo Jollie said: "We appreciate that this was a very concerning incident for the local community and we are treating this with the utmost seriousness.
"I'd urge anyone who was in the area around this time that hasn't spoken to officers and may be able to help with the investigation to contact us.
"There will continue to be a police presence in the area as we conduct our enquiries and anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak to officers."
A police spokeswoman said: "Police in Falkirk were called to an incident involving a 50-year-old man at 4.50pm today in Glenburn Road, Falkirk.
"Enquiries are still continuing and anyone with information which may be able to help are urged to contact Police Scotland on 101."
