The bomb squad was called out over concerns about a parcel left outside a Fife post office.

A section of High Street in Newburgh was cordoned off by police at around 9am on Thursday.

Officers found the package was not dangerous, however, and contained a "non-suspicious item".

A spokesman said: "Officers attended and the package was deemed to contain a non-suspicious item.

"Cordons have been lifted and Newburgh High Street is now reopened. The public is thanked for their patience as officers dealt with this incident."
