Police car left damaged in pursuit of 'stolen vehicle'
Two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, have been charged over the incident in Wallyford.
Two teenagers have been charged over a chase that left a police car damaged.
The pursuit began after officers tried to stop a car that had been reported stolen at around 2am on Monday in Wallyford, East Lothian.
The Kia Rio was finally brought to a halt by officers four miles away in Dalkeith.
A police car is understood to have been damaged carrying out a manoeuvre intended to stop the Kia.
Two boys aged 16 and 17 were detained at the scene and have been charged by police.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Officers engaged in a pursuit in the Wallyford area of Musselburgh shortly after 2am on Monday after attempting to signal a vehicle, previously reported stolen, to stop.
"A Kia Rio was involved in a collision with a marked police car in the Salters Road area of Dalkeith and two males were detained shortly afterwards in the James Lean Avenue area.
"A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old have now been charged in connection with this and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
