The death of a cyclist who was crushed by a tour bus in Edinburgh is being investigated by the Crown.

Zhi Min Soh fell from her bike after a wheel became stuck in a tramline on Princes Street on May 31.

The 23-year-old was then run over by a Rabbie's bus and died of her injuries at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

The Scottish Fatalities Investigation Unit (SFIU) is carrying out an inquiry into her death, which happened three years to the day since Edinburgh's trams opened to the public.

A Crown spokesman said: "The procurator fiscal received a report in connection with the death of a 23-year-old woman on Princes Street, Edinburgh.

"The investigation into the death, under the direction of the SFIU, is ongoing and the family will be kept updated in relation to any significant developments."

The Crown added it is too early to say whether or not a fatal accident investigation will be held.

Ms Soh, who was a medical student at Edinburgh University, was described as a "bright star of the future".

She was cremated earlier this week in Malaysia.

Another cyclist, Luisa Brown, was involved in a near-miss at the same junction on Princes Street three weeks before the fatal crash.

Around 200 cyclists have been injured in accidents involving tramlines in Edinburgh.
