A man has been arrested after shots were fired at a house in Midlothian.

The incident took place on Woodburn Road in Dalkeith around midnight on Saturday.

Following the shooting, police carried out an armed raid in Meadowfield Terrace in the Duddingston area of Edinburgh, and searched another property at Kippielaw Steading in Dalkeith.

On Tuesday, Police Scotland said a 36-year-old man had been charged and a firearm had been recovered as part of the investigation.

The man is due to appear in court later on Tuesday. No one was injured during the incident at Woodburn Road and there was no apparent damage to the house.

Chief inspector Kenny Simpson said: "I want to stress this was an isolated incident and we are not looking for anyone else as part of this investigation."
