Edinburgh Zoo's panda and penguin mascots have paid homage to the iconic opening scene from the film Trainspotting.

In a new video to promote the zoo, the mascots recreate Renton and Spud's famous sprint down Princes Street.

The furry pair race around the capital as viewers are told to"Choose Scotland, Choose Edinburgh", before they end up at the zoo.

Danny Boyle's cult classic Trainspotting came out in 1996 and its sequel has just been released on DVD.

Barbara Smith, chief executive of the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS), said: "Trainspotting contains some of Edinburgh's most iconic characters and we decided to bring them together with a few of our own.

"It's been tremendous fun making our parody and we hope the public enjoy watching it as much as they enjoy visiting RZSS Edinburgh Zoo this summer."
