A man threw his microwave out of a fourth-floor window after an argument with his neighbours.

Robert Dummett's kitchen appliance smashed into several pieces after falling 40ft to the pavement.

Perth Sheriff Court was told that Dummett, 57, had threatened his neighbours before throwing the microwave.

Dummett, of West High Street, Crieff, Perthshire, admitted shouting and swearing and uttering threats to his neighbours and throwing a microwave onto the footpath at his home on September 6.

He told police he was not happy living in the block of flats and wanted to move.

The court was told "constant banging noises" could be heard coming from Dummett's flat followed by the loud smash of the microwave hitting the ground.

He then came out into the common close and told his neighbours: "I did that. I hate you all. I'm going to kill you. You can go call the police."

Dummett spent a night in custody after his arrest but the court was told he had returned home and relations with his neighbours had improved.

Sheriff William Wood told Dummett he had posed a serious danger to the public and fined him £200.
