CCTV images have been released after a man was punched in the face at a fish and chip shop in Edinburgh.

The assault happened at the Kingfisher Restaurant on Bread Street at 2.30am on July 29.

The 22-year-old victim suffered a broken jaw and was treated at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Police have released images of a man wanted in connection with the assault.

Constable Callum Johnston said "The man in these images is believed to be of significance to our investigation and we'd urge anyone who can assist in tracing him to come forward as soon as possible."

The man pictured in the CCTV footage is around 5ft 8in, with a slim build and short dark hair which is shaved at the sides and styled in a quiff on top.

He was wearing an olive green bomber jacket with black cuffs, black skinny jeans and grey trainers.

The man has a local accent and may have links to Muirhouse.

He was seen in the company of two other men around the time of the attack.
