Police are hunting a man who raped a woman in a car park in Edinburgh.

The 33-year-old victim was approached by the man in the early hours of Wednesday in Links Place, Leith.

The man then raped her at the entrance to a car park and mugged her.

He was last seen walking towards Queen Charlotte Street.

The woman called police and was treated at the scene for a minor head injury by paramedics.

The suspect is described as being black Afro-Caribbean and is in his late 20s or early 30s.

His is around 6ft 2in, wore a green Parka-style jacket and spoke with a London accent.

Detective chief inspector Martin MacLean said: "This was a serious and frightening attack, which has left the victim injured and badly upset.

"Specialist officers are now investigating this incident and the victim is now being supported by officers from our Public Protection Unit.

"We are eager to trace this man as soon as possible. I would ask anyone who was in the vicinity of Links Place in the early hours of Wednesday, October 25, and saw anything suspicious, to get in touch with us as soon as possible."

Anyone with information has been asked to call police via 101, quoting incident number 0136 of October 25.
