A woman has been taken to hospital following a two-car crash in the north of Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called out to the scene of the crash on Telford Road, outside the Telford Arms pub, shortly after 7am.

The westbound side of the road was closed following the crash between a VW Golf and a Vauxhall Corsa, causing delays for drivers in the area.

A woman who had been driving one of the cars was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by paramedics, and another person was treated at the scene.

It is not yet known how severe her injuries are.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We dispatched one ambulance and one paramedic response unit.

"One patient was transported to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and one patient was treated on the scene."

Police reopened the road around 8.25am.
