A sculpture has been removed from Loch Earn without the artist being notified.

The iron figure, named Still, was located across from the Four Seasons hotel in St Fillans, Perthshire.

It had drawn many photographers to the spot since its installation in 2014.

The artist, Rob Mullholland, learned of the removal of the statue through friends on social media.

He said: "It was brought to my attention this weekend via social media that my sculpture Still, aka Mirror Man, is to be permanently removed from his location in the loch across from the Four Seasons Hotel, St Fillans, where he has been on public display since 2014.

"Although I am obviously very saddened to learn this, I have been touched by the number of messages and emails I have received from people expressing their fondness for Still and their disappointment at his removal.

"It has been heartening to learn how much Still means to so many people."

Mr Mullholland added he has contacted both the previous owner and new owner of the Four Seasons Hotel to better understand the situation but has been unable to speak to either.

He added: "I cannot therefore shed any light on to why this decision has been made."
