Firefighters worked through the night to tackle a fire at a primary school amid fears someone was trapped inside.

Emergency services rushed to Paradykes Primary School in Loanhead, Midlothian after flames had engulfed the entire building.

They were called at around 9.37pm on Saturday and found the school was "well alight",

Crews from Dalkeith, Liberton and Penicuik were all in attendance, using pumps and hoses to tackle the flames.

It was later confirmed that there was no casualties.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: "They fought the fire externally as the building was fully involved."

Crews were still at the scene at 7am on Sunday to dampen down the area.
