Teenager charged with stabbing police officer at college
A constable in his 20s was taken to hospital after the incident at Edinburgh College.
A teenager has been charged with stabbing a police officer at Edinburgh College.
Police were called to the Granton campus, formerly known as Telford College, after reports of concern for a man around 9.10am on Monday.
A police constable in his 20s, who had been deployed to the incident, suffered a stab wound around 20 minutes later.
He was taken to Edinburgh Royal infirmary for treatment to injuries which are not life-threatening.
A man aged 19 has now been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
He is expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
Chief inspector Stevie Sutherland said: "Our thoughts are with our colleague as he continues to recover from what is thankfully a non life-threatening wound.
"This incident continues to be treated as isolated and we're working closely with Edinburgh College to offer support to students and staff.
"There will be an increased police presence across the campus over the coming days and anyone with concerns is urged to speak to us or contact Edinburgh College's Student Services Department."
