Two men have been charged with stealing an ATM in a ram raid on a shop in the Borders.

It is alleged a Land Rover was used to rob the cash machine from the Premier Store in Innerleithen on Monday, September 4.

Two men, aged 19 and 26, have been charged with the theft as well as culpable and reckless conduct.

They face further charges for road traffic offences.

Police say they are trying to trace a third man over the incident.

Inspector Tony Hodges, of Galashiels Police Station, said: "I would like to thank the local community who greatly assisted our inquiries in relation to this incident.

"We are still conducting inquiries are still ongoing to trace and identify a third man involved in this incident.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 101, quoting incident number 0358 of September 4, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
