A four-month-old baby has been taken to hospital after a seven-car crash on the A1.

Police said the crash, which took place at the roundabout near Dunbar in East Lothian, was caused by low sun.

The southbound section of the road was closed following the crash shortly after 8am on Tuesday.

No one is thought to have been seriously injured in the crash but the baby and two adults were taken to hospital as a precaution.

The cars involved are understood to have run into the back of each other.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We received a call at 8.16am today to attend a road traffic collision on the A1.

"We initially dispatched two ambulances and one manager to the scene. An additional ambulance was then requested.

"We have taken one baby to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children and two adults to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary."
