A man has been robbed by two attackers after being threatened with a knife.

The 45-year-old victim was outside Muirhouse Shopping Centre on Pennywell Road in Edinburgh when he was approached at about 3.10pm on Friday.

He handed over his wallet to the two men, who then made off towards Muirhouse Avenue.

Officers investigating the incident are now appealing for information to trace the men responsible and have asked any witnesses to the daylight assault and robbery to contact them.

Both of the attackers are described as white, between 30 and 35, 5ft 10in tall and of heavy build.

Detective constable Peter Lyons from Corstorphine CID said: "Fortunately the victim was uninjured as a result but has been left understandably shaken.

"The area was busy with passing traffic and pedestrians at the time and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who knows who is responsible.

"Anyone who recognises the description of the suspects or who has information about the incident is asked to contact police immediately."

Those with information are asked to contact officers at Corstorphine CID via 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
