The drivers of a lorry and a car have been charged after a 13-year-old schoolboy was knocked down and injured in Edinburgh.

The pedestrian was struck by a Citroen car on Colinton Road near Craiglockhart Avenue at about 8.10am on Monday.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where his injuries are not thought to be serious.

The driver of the Citroen and a lorry that was parked near the scene of the incident have been charged and ticketed.

It is understood the lorry driver was charged with obstructing traffic lights and the car driver with running a red light.

The road was closed in both directions until around 8.45am.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "The male driver of the Citroen and the male driver an articulated lorry, which was parked on the eastbound carriageway, have been charged in connection with this and issued with a fixed penalty ticket."
