A search resumed on Monday morning for a microlight which may have crashed near Stirling.

Two people travelling along the M80 reported seeing the aircraft descend into woodlands south of Cambusbarron at around 4pm on Sunday.

Police Scotland is leading the search, supported by the fire service and mountain rescuers.

An aerial survey of the area and ground searches took place on Sunday before darkness hampered efforts.

Search teams were back on the scene "at first light" on Monday to resume the hunt.

Inspector Anton Stephenson from Stirling Police Station said: "A full multi-agency response has been mobilised this morning to assist with the search which involves a number of trained personnel.

"I would ask that the public avoid the area and do not attempt to search themselves as the weather and conditions are not favourable to those without appropriate skills and equipment."
