Four pedestrians have been injured after being mowed down by a car.

Emergency services were called to Church Street in St Andrews at 11.45am on Friday.

Four men have been hurt in the incident, which involved a Volkswagen Golf. Their injuries are not thought to be serious.

Officers have cordoned off the street. The crash is not thought to have been deliberate.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police and emergency services are currently in attendance.

"The four pedestrians sustained minor leg and back injuries and are currently receiving treatment.

"Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing and Church Street is currently closed.

"Members of the public are thanked for their patience at this time."
