Concerns are growing for a woman who has gone missing without her medication.

Tracy Simpson, who suffers from diabetes, was last seen in Grange Loan in the south of Edinburgh shortly after 6pm on Thursday.

The 42-year-old has not been in contact with anyone since then and police are concerned for her welfare.

She may have travelled to Bonnyrigg in Midlothian and officers are set to carry out searches in the town as well as Edinburgh.

Inspector Norman Towler said: "It has now been potentially over 12 hours since Tracy took her medication and that gives us great cause for concern for her health.

"We are eager to trace her as soon as possible to ensure she is alright and anyone who believes they have seen her since Thursday evening, or who has information that can assist with our ongoing inquiries, should contact police immediately."

He continued: "Tracy is not believed to have much money with her so will either be travelling on foot, or utilising public transport.

"She has links to the Bonnyrigg area and may look to head there, so we will be conducting search activity in this area as well as within the city.

"If Tracy sees or hears this appeal, I would urge her to get in touch with family, friends, or with police, to let us know she is safe."

Ms Simpson is described as being 5ft 2in tall with a slim build and wearing a bright pink hooded top, a black jacket and navy jeans.

She also has a rash at the corners of her mouth and may have dressings on both wrists.

Anyone with information can contact police via 101.
