A Finnish tourist missing for ten days has been found safe in Edinburgh.

Riina Sjögren, 38, was reported missing on January 9 and police made a series of public appeals in an attempt to trace her.

She was last seen on York Place after leaving Edinburgh Airport, where she bought a plane ticket she did not use and abandoned some of her belongings.

Ms Sjögren was found safe on Friday on Palmerston Place, about a mile from York Place.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Officers would like to thank members of the public and media who participated in our search."
