A student is to stand trial on dangerous driving charges after he allegedly left a biker and his pillion passenger badly hurt in a head-on crash.

Angus Oliver is alleged to have crashed his Volkswagen Polo into a BMW R1150R motorbike on the B941 in Fife.

Prosecutors say Oliver crossed the centre of the road between Colinsburgh and Largoward before colliding with the bike, seriously injuring two people.

Oliver, 21, of Stoke, Hampshire, pleaded not guilty on indictment to two charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Defence advocate Mark Stewart QC said a further hearing was required to determine the admissibility of some evidence in the case.

Sheriff Alastair Brown set a further pre-trial hearing for February 20.
