The death of a man whose body was found at a flat in Fife is being treated as unexplained.

Police were called to the property on the High Street in Leven on Wednesday afternoon.

There had been reports of concern for the safety of a man inside the flat, Police Scotland said.

An investigation was launched after a man was found dead inside.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police were called to an address in Leven High Street on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 31 to reports of concern for the safety of a man within.

"Officers attended and found a man deceased, the death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.

"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
