The Duchess of Cambridge told students in Oslo that the sub-zero temperatures reminded her of studying in Scotland.

During an official visit to Norway, Kate and husband Prince William appeared at a high school that features in popular TV series Skam.

Speaking to fans outside Hartvig Nissen School, she compared the cold weather to her days studying at St Andrews University - with the duchess admitting that Norway is much colder.

When a pupil asked about her education she said: "I went to a school called Marlborough College and then on to university which is where I met William, to St Andrews university in Scotland.

"Miles away, freezing cold. But I can't complain about that being here. It's much colder here."

Kate and William were joined by Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit as they toured the school.

The Norwegian teen drama, which portrayed mental illness, sexual assault and homophobia, was streamed online and a US version is in the works.
