Four masked men carried out a robbery in Edinburgh while the residents were at home.

The balaclava-clad men broke into the property in Broomhouse Crescent at around 11.50pm on Friday.

Following the raid the suspects headed east in the direction of Saughton Road.

Police are appealing for witnesses to aid their investigations.

The suspects are described as white with Scottish accents, large builds and approximately 6ft in height.

All four men were wearing balaclavas and were dressed in dark clothing or tracksuits.

Detective Inspector Bruce Coutts, Corstorphine CID, said: "No-one was injured in this incident but it was a distressing experience for the victims.

" When the suspects left the property they were seen to be walking at speed, east on Broomhouse Crescent (adjacent to Broomhouse Primary School playing fields) in the direction of Saughton Road, Edinburgh. We are asking anyone who may have any information about this robbery."
